I was born in 1987 to teenage parents living in Superior, Arizona. Both my mother’s people and father’s people trace their roots back to Mexico and to the Iberian peninsula before that. My maternal great-great grandfather worked in Superior’s copper smelter, as did my maternal and paternal great-grandfathers and grandfathers. In July we designed and delivered two See the Systems exercise weeks for students at a school in Oregon. These weeks took the students through a process whose output was a presentation of their findings, analysis, conclusions and suggested course of systemic change to a group of influential respected community members.

Agriculture seems to be another system that has expanded from local to global. The pressure to produce food for global markets has dominated public policy and subsidies for agribusiness. This had destroyed the soil, destroyed much life in ponds, rivers, and oceans, and has destroyed livelhoods for untold millions of people.
As we recognize the interconnectedness of our worlds we look for more appropriate ways to approach our "problems" and our wishes. The iconic two step diagnose and treat model fails us too often for comfort.
I was born in 1987 to teenage parents living in Superior, Arizona. Both my mother’s people and father’s people trace their roots back to Mexico and to the Iberian peninsula before that. My maternal great-great grandfather worked in Superior’s copper smelter, as did my maternal and paternal great-grandfathers and grandfathers. My grandmothers were enterprising homemakers and raised large families. I grew up living with my parents and grandparents and received the blessings of being raised in a safe, healthy, loving, environment.
In 2005, the tool found some use in the United Kingdom innovation sector, where it was offered by some facilitation (business) companies and had been trialled within the Her Majesty's Civil Service.

It is key to the spread of anything be that a new idea, kindness, fire or an infectious disease. When it is understood we can use it to create leverage; the tiny change that changes the whole world. We can use it to improve our lives and connect with others. We can be successful and empowered. When we don’t understand it, we become insignificant victims and we pay the price.
